Ernie's obedience competition!

Well, we have had a very busy weekend! On Saturday me and Ernie went to an obedience competition. It was our first proper obedience competition where it is just purely obedience. We'd competed before, but came 6th and he hadnt done that well after being spooked by skateboards.

Well, it seems to be a trend, something spooking him in obedience! We went with our trainer, and it was a great experience for Ernie to be around completely new people and new dogs. He went for a walk with my trainers 4 dogs, 2 collies, a gsd collie mix and a little German Spitz. He liked the German spitz!
The first obedience round went brilliant. His heelwork was good for a first competition in that environment. He wasnt happy about putting his bum down on the floor for a sit and down. Typical Ernie! But it was concrete, in his defence! He did a brilliant sit stay however. He broke his down, unfortunately but only stood up, he didnt actually wander. He broke his recall, unfortunately, but this was plainly due to confidence issues. He came 1st anyhow, even if he was the only in the class... and was only a few points off qualifying for Crufts.
The 2nd round went disastrous. He refused to do anything, he was too busy panicking about the sound of the rain on the roof. Unfortunately, it was indoors and it was extremely echoey. So we didnt come anywhere for that, but thats ok. It showed us where we need to improve, and maybe next year we will have better luck! Yes, we are going to stick at it now seeing as Ernie doesnt do compete in flyball anymore. We have the whole winter to work on it, so we shall see. He did me proud anyhow, and for a first competition was so good!

So, no photos! But clocks have gone back and our walks will start to get darker now. Ernie's happy now the cold months have come. Will be soon time to bring out the dogs coats! Although, I doubt it will be as cold of a winter as last year... last year really was one very cool winter!
